Sleep paralysis: I think you are referring to sleep apnea which is a situation, normally due to airway obstruction and breathing issues that can lead to sleep apnea. This is usually manifested by snoring, particularly heavy at times and periods of slow or no breathing - this can be easily investigated by the sleep specialists.
