A member asked:

Might it be possible to get carry a pregnancy after abdominal hernia repair and abdominal wall reconstruction?

Pregnancy: Carrying a full term pregnancy is primarily related to the uterus & other maternal risks for miscarriage. Having had hernia surgery, even complicated abdominal wall reconstruction, would not be directly related to maintaining a full term pregnancy. The pregnancy could cause disruption or recurrence of the hernia itself though.

Yes: I have had several patients have a successful pregnancy after laparoscopic incisional hernia repair, some with large mesh. Should be equally as fine after a full abdominal wall reconstruction as well.
