For what length of time can a person possibly sleep?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

12-16 hours: I assume you're not looking for the world record but just the normal range for age 36. A normal healthy person may sleep anywhere from 5-10 hours. Most people average 7-8 hours. When you're fighting an illness, you can sleep 2-4 hours more than normal. When you have mono, you can sleep 16 hours a day. If you're 36 years old, if you really force yourself (or a hangover), 12-14 hours on occasion.
