Varies: Although to an observer, people with narcolepsy sleep frequently and for long time periods, there is actually a lot of waking during apparent 'sleep' in the narcoleptic patient. So the total hours actually add up to be the same as a non-narcoleptic (7-9 hours) but it is spread out through a 24 hour period as opposed to typical nighttime sleep.

Irregular: Very irregular sleep during the day and during the night. Variation is significant. Narcolepsy must be managed by a sleep specialist. This is a very complicated disease and always requires connection with your sleep doc.

It varies: There is no particular nap length. People with narcolepsy however often feel refreshed for several hours after a nap. People with central nervous system hypersomnia on the other hand do not feel refreshed after a nap.
