Weight loss : The most reliable method remains decrease caloric intake to 1200 to 1500 calories and exercise over 2500 calories a day. That degree of exercise is not easy however. That is why rapid healthful weight loss isn't easy. More reasonable to establish a diet exercise balance that yield steady weight loss/control over time and stick to it.

Fast isn't best: Eat healthfully. Try to eat at least 5 servings of vegetables & 4 of fruit per day. Increase nutritional fiber. Avoid refined sugar & junk carbohydrates. Avoid alcohol, sweetened juices, soda & caffeinated beverages. Aim for 7.5 to 8 hrs of sleep / night. Hydrate w at least 64 oz of water / day. Calories burned must > calories consumed. Do both cardio & weight training.

Yes: If it truly is high, you need some tests to determine if there is an unusual reason for the high blood pressure. If it is just primary hypertension it would be treated with medications. If the elevation is very mild, life style changes such as eating less salt might help. Certain types of unusual hypertension can be cured with surgery., .

Probably: There's a chance you could be weaned off of the medicine once your blood pressure is controlled, but unfortunately most people end up staying on the medication.

No one really knows.: That is why it is called "essential" hypertension. There are many contributors but it is hard to pin it on just one. Everyone seems to have a small amount of sodium retention or perhaps sodium overload.

Many ways: Dash diet, regular exercise, weight loss, and stopping smoking are all non-medication methods which can be helpful.
Pharmacologic considerations: chlorthalidone, lisinopril, carvedilol, amlodipine, many others.

Treat HTN: I do not know what your medical history has in it but you are extremely young to have high blood pressure. Do not know how high your blood pressure is running but if significant you need to have some tests done to make sure that you are not one of the 1% that has an underlying treatable cause such as pheochromocytoma, Conn's syndrome. If you are overweight, lose weight. Reduce salt, exercise
