Carbamezapine: A blood test is often taken to determine that the level of a medicine in the blood is within therapeutic range, i.e., the level that the medicine is supposed to work. By that blood test, the toxic level can also be discovered. With carbamezapine, with the illness under good control, it is safe to perform the blood test every 6 months. Should other medications be added, it could be sooner.
