Keep in mind that even if he is willing to prescribe stimulant meds, you alone must evaluate whether you can take them w/o risking relapse.

Be open...: Being open and honest from the beginning helps establish a trusting relationship. Aside from talking with your provider there are also tests to aid in diagnosing adhd accurately. There are a number of treatments available for adhd that are not addicting as well.
