A member asked:

Is the cd4:cd8 ratio too vague of a diagnostic tool to be useful in diagnosing autoimmune diseases/disorders? r autoantibodies a more specific tool?

CD4:CD8 T cell ratios are not meaningful for the diagnosis of any autoimmune disease I am aware of. These ratios are more helpful in detecting abnormalities in immune function that can be seen in immunodeficiencies. Specific antibody tests are commonly used to help diagnosis and sometimes monitor response to treatment for some autoimmune diseases.
