Virus in the blood.: Once a virus gets into cells, it begins to hyjack it to become a virus-making factory. Once there is enough virus, the infected cell will either shed the virus or else, burst open, leaving millions of virus particles in the blood stream. This sults in the sensation of feeling cold and triggering rigors. When immunity kicks in, they are responsible for the fever and sweats seen with viral inf.
