Anxiety: Having a support system or group as well as talking with a psychotherapist might help with anxiety. There are behavioral techniques such as dialect behavioral therapy or cpt that might help. Others suggest autosuggestion or hypnosis and even yoga and meditation can help. Having a support group helps nevertheless.

Risk: All sports have a certain level of risk. All you can do is train well and with the right person. Then you give your all nod you have an accident, it is part of the business. That said, you have to decide what is the level of risk and effort that you feel comfortable with and think positive. There are sports that carry minimal risk. Do your homework and find something you enjoy.
