Energy balance: Weight gain or loss depends on net positive or negative change in calories entering or leaving our bodies. One could consider keeping a diary of food and drink intake and the calories going into our bodies and the calories being burnt by activities to figure out energy balance. I found Fitbit energy tracker helpful in keeping track of my energy balance.

Calorie reduction: Losing weight is not just about exercising but calorie restriction is vital. Exercising does not increase weight loss without proper calorie balance. It may help increase metabolism but you'll still need to balance your calories properly. Find a physician to get a plan of action or a nutritionist who can help you figure out the best kinda of diet for you.
