Unlikely: It is unknown if it would stop it permanently, but probably not. What is known is that surgeries can very adequately control the damaging pressures and thereby presumably reduce or slow progression, which is a critical component to prevent permanent vision loss including blindness from poorly controlled glaucoma.

Yes: Surgery is an effective option to treat. In, the United States surgeries are generally reserved for those who progress despite medical therapy. In europe surgery is often the first line treatment. Talk to your ophthalmologist about your options.

Stabilizable: Unfortunately, we don't have a surgical/medical cure for glaucoma. The current treatments are very effective and provide a tremendous stabilizing influence on glaucomatous disease. Glaucoma requires chronic and diligent life long care to assure that visual function remains as high as possible throughout life. I remain optimistic about medical/surgical research on better treatment strategies.
