Repeat ultrasound: Ultrasound examination usually defines cyst of ovary as fluid filled. Sometimes echogencity of lining is suggestive of hemorrhage. Repeat ultrasound exam in few weeks with disappearance of cyst is definite evidence of benign lesion. If solid components are associated with the cyst tumor can be suspected. Then either other imaging such as mr or surgical biopsy might be performed.

A 28-year-old female asked:
What does it mean when a ovarian cyst changed character into a hemorrhagic cyst?

Normal: in a normal cycle a cyst forms in an ovary, the cyst ruptures and the egg is released and then a hemorrhagic cyst can form.
