Self-treatment: Would not recommend taking antibiotics without a specific reason after being diagnosed by a doctor. These are not without risk and no obvious benefit. You can take an antiinflammatory like tylenol, (acetaminophen) ibuprofen, etc. To manage the pain until you are seen by the doctor. Good luck.

Unwise- : Your doctor needs to see you while having symptoms. Taking abx by yourself will make it more difficult for your doctor to diagnose what is going on since 1) you may mask symptoms , 2) increase the chances of complications caused by the abx you are taking, and 3) increase the chances of developing a multi-drug resistant bacteria. In the meantime, symptomatic relief with Ibuprofen is suggested.
