Hangover: Some sleep medications (such as barbiturates) are known to "hang over" into the daytime hours, especially if taken late at night. Then when you try to wake up in the morning, some medicine will still be active in your system. This is somewhat like a hangover. Few doctors are prescribing barbiturate sleeping pills these days -- except perhaps in very severe situations. They're habit-forming.
