Tuberculosis: Because you are having a chest xray means there is concern that you have active tuberculosis. If you are not coughing you may not be contagious; only a chest xray could help determine if you are contagious. Therefore, it important to take precautions until the chest xray is done and reported. If you are coughing, you should cover your mouth or wear a mask until the xray is reported as negative.

If you are: Coughing, you are able to spread the disease. They may try to culture to see for check for variants. Standard drugs are inh/ethambutol. Duration of therapy is long. Side effects not too troubling.
