Test: White threads in stool could be food remnants, mucus from the colon, or worms. A good place to start is to test the stool for worms and parasites. It can also be tested for occult blood and evidence of inflammation in the intestine (wbc, calprotectin, lactoferrin). Those tests in conjunction with a history and physical exam should yield some answers.
