ENT & hearing test: Any child with suspicion for hearing loss or evidence of hearing loss in a pediatric office screen should be sent to an ENT and also get a formal audiogram. There are different types of hearing loss and the audiogram will help identify them. The ENT can do a thorough history and order tests that may help identify the cause (in about 60% of cases). Hearing loss from a high fever is not common.
