Not always necessary: Hrt can help a number of problems. Women who take hrt generally feel better and maintain their bone density better but there are risks including cardiovascular risks and a slight increase in the risk of breast cancer. The decision whether or not to use hrt is a balancing act that is individualized for each patient.
