You might be : Suffering from obstructive sleep apnea. This is a condition where you stop breathing for a few minutes, then gasp for breath when you become hypoxic. This gasp might be what your wife thinks is hiccoughing. Try sleeping on your side, not supine. If that doesn't help, see if your doctor can refer you for a sleep study.
