Call your dentist: You need to discuss all these issues with the dentist who is actually treating you & is aware of all the important factors governing treatment decisions and follow-up care. No internet service (even with the best doctors answering the questions) can replace the one on one care necessary in cases such as this. Please call your dentist for advice. If you don't trust your dentist, find another one.

"Reinforcements": Ouch! though it is possible to still have discomfort 7 days after an extraction, each day of continued pain may point to an infection that needs to be treated. If a previous abscessed tooth did not respond to augmentin, (amoxicillin and clavulanate) you might need a different antibiotic or combination of antibiotics to treat what might be many different bacteria at work. Follow up with your surgeon; don't treat yourself.
