A member asked:

For pills that are taken with a meal (fish oil, calcium, vitamins), do they lose effectiveness if taken on an empty stomach?

Depends on the pill: Some medications need to be taken with food to be properly absorbed. Other medications need to be taken with food to protect your stomach.

Yes: Some of the nutrients will need lipids and other constituents to help it absorb into our dody stream. Fish oil will be more easily absorbed if you were to have lipids with your meal. Calcium is more easily absorbed with vitamin c such as with orange juice, etc.
