OTC and DDS: Take some otc pain medication such as advil, motrin, aleve (naproxen) or what you normally would take for a headache. Then call your dentist to discuss your discomfort and see if he\she feels you should wait it out or be seen back in the office for an evaluation or an adjustment. Feel better soon.

How long?: Discomfort after dental treatment is not unusual. Tissues become inflamed, and it usually passes in a day or two and is managed with otc pain meds. If your problem is more severe or longer in duration, call your dentist to discuss.
