Surgical wounds: Leaking red 'pus' needs to be investigated. Early on- right after surgery before the wound seals (24-48 hours) thin clear - reddish drainage (serous) is normal. After that- any drainage is probably abnormal. Thick white tinged drainage is indicative of an infection and needs immediate attention. See your surgeon immediately.
