A member asked:

I have a complete pft tomorrow and chest x-ray and i have extreme white coat syndrome. should i be nervous? what can i expect? how long will it take?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Anxiety: There should not be a doctor present for either the cxr or pft...So take a deep breath and relax. The pft shouldn't take long depending on whether it is a basic pft, a post-bronchodilator pft or a methacholine challenge. If unsure, call the respiratory lab and ask what type of test is being done and look it up.
