A bit unusual: Usually in a 28 day cycle the lh surge is on day 12-13. Day 8 is a bit early but I have seen this happen. The fertility monitor checks estrogen Progesterone and lh so it is a bit better than a simple lh kit. Some patients have lh levels that are frequently above 10-12 for a couple of days before they surge up to an lh of 20-50. Maybe you are one of them.
