Geographic tongue: Lesions of geographic tongue fluctuate, getting better or worse, disappearing, moving locations. It is considered essentially to be psoriasis of the tongue. There are topical treatments that help improve the condition. However the condition is unpredictable so it's hard to say whether it will eventually disappear completely. Geographic Tongue: It is completely benign. Many people have it (erythema migrans) for a long time without every knowing it. Some people note it is sometimes more active than others but it almost always looks different daily which is why we call it what we call it erythema=red migrans=moves so the redness moves around on the tongue. It also looks like a map! it does not go away but is nothing to worry about.
