A member asked:

Inflammation mucosal thickening noted in the sphenoid and frontal sinuses. meaning?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Don't worry: I presume these are findings from a ct scan. That is typical radiology terminology from a ct or MRI report, and ct scans visualize the sinuses very well. Mucosal thickening indicates that the lining of the sinuses looks thicker than normal, which may come from anything causing sinus inflammation: allergies or mild infection. The frontal sinuses are just over the eyes, the sphenoid behind them.
