Venous congestion: The DVT may be causing the veins in the arm to become congestion due to "back up" of venous blood flow. He should stay on blood thinners, elevate the arm and consider a compression sleeve.

A collateral vein: Depends upon where the DVT was, but it sounds like his clot has interfered with the flow on the surface veins, so these enlarge as a result of a blockage upstream. Protuberant veins are a sign of a deeper problem, but unless he has symptoms of arm tiredness, heaviness, pain, or the arm itself is very swollen, there is no need to intervene and time will help him.

Veins: The protruding vein is most likely secondary to the dvt of the arm I would suggest repeat venous Doppler sonogram to determine if the deep vein reopened Also would recommend a Ct scan to rule out thoracic outlet syndrome
