Simple answer: There are many reasons for colored skin lesions besides moles. Doctors get concerned when there is ulceration, irregular borders, abnormal growth, and pain among others. If these peeled off, and there is nothing there, it is unlikely they were moles. In the surface peeled off and they are still there, then a simple punch biopsy will remove them and give you the answer at the same time.

Skin : Moles do not "peel off" . Perhaps they were not moles. In any case have a dermatologist examine the area and check for any suspicious moles or skin cancer.
