Weight loss surgery : Since you didn't give any details as to why you are on blood thinners you need to discuss with surgeon. You would need to be off thinners for a week prior and possible Lovenox (enoxaparin) injections.

Blood thinners: You should be able to get weight loss surgery despite needing blood thinners for life. If you can stop them before surgery for a week or so then you should be able to get surgery. See a bariatric surgeon affiliated with a university you have a better chance that way.

Weight loss surgery: Weight loss surgery is a very effective tool for achieving long term success from the complications of obesity. There are a variety of contraindications. A relative one is the need for a blood thinner like Coumadin (warfarin) or Plavix which are strong blood thinners. Certain procedures like the lap band and the sleeve gastrectomy would still be good options. A bypass could change medication absorption.
