Adequate sleep: A tip for you is to make sure your child gets adequate sleep going to bed every night at the same hour and getting 8-10 hours sleep.Studies have shown that many children have been misdiagnosed with adhd because of inadequate sleep.

Yes: Check for local adhd support groups and find parents who have been through the process. Check for learning disabilities as well. Push the school to help you. Consider that the social experience of adhd may have affected you're son's view of himself, and consider psychotherapy for him and training for you and dad.

See CHADD.org: Optimal management of adhd is multimodal: medications, behavioral therapy/behavior management training for parents, & environmental manipulations at home & school. Take the report of his valid diagnosis of adhd by dsm-v criteria to his teacher & request a section 504, classroom modifications mandated by law. Have (neuro) psychological testing for learning disabilities & other comorbidities.
