A newer type: Arcoxia is etoricoxib, a cox-2 inhibitor. A cox-2 inhibitor is not quite the same as a traditional NSAID. Both cox-2 inhibitors and traditional NSAIDs have the ability to control pain and inflammation. However, cox-2 inhibitors have an added safety benefit in being less likely to cause stomach problems such as ulcers, bleeding, and obstruction.
