About equally: effective. All of the OTC medications are about equally effective. You may try a few out to see which suits you the best. If you drink alcohol, I would recommend avoiding acetaminophen and aspirin.

What We've SAID...: There's like 6 different kinds of NSAIDs of different structural classes and varying costs.None of them are universally touted for specific conditions except those that allegedly spare the stomach.Some are customarily used for certain things like gout, but there is little agreement on that.The cheapest are usually suggested first(like ibuprofen)and others depending on the doctor's preference
