A member asked:

When does a rheumatologist decide to take a young adult patient off methotrexate if it's working to control symptoms...or do they stay on for life?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

It depends: It depends on a number things for example---is the patient developing side effects. Some autoimmune diseases do burn out on occasion and patients can come off meds. However;patients often have to stay on medications such as Methotrexate for years.
