Two to Four Weeks: Most antidepressants, including Effexor (generic venlafaxine), begin working between two to four weeks. One must take into consideration the dose, the patient's age, and other medications being taken. My comments are quite general as each person's experience is unique. If you feel your medication is not working fast enough, share this with your doctor.
