Controversial: There are some controversial data pointing toward cervical neck manipulation by chiropractors and osteopaths causing stroke. Specially brainstem stroke due damage to the vertebral arteries that travel along the spine. It's a rare incidence.

Unlikely: Doctors of Chiropractic are specifically trained to identify risks associated with the regions of the spine which they may be treating, including VBAI, and potential stroke. Risks are extremely rare, such that it has been unnecessary to include in an informed consent. If you have any questions or concerns, talk with you Doctor of Chiropractic.
