Mother in law has been taken off aricept (donepezil). she is 93, what side effects should we expect ?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Alzheimer's : Aricept (donepezil) is a cholinesterase inhibitor used to help the memory impairment in patients with alzheimer's. Side effects include diarrhea, and bradycardia. This is the reason many times we elect to stop tis medication, specially in late stages when mainly supportive care is recommended. The progression of the disease will continue with or without the medication. Some notice a slightly faster decline.
