Hospice: Hospice care should make her comfortable. There is truly no Treatment that cures dementia...the medication like Aricept (donepezil) can be used to lengthen the duration of cognitive impairment. At 89 and on Hospice, the Aricept (donepezil) will most likely not have a mojor effect, hence the Dr. not likely to use it. I know it is tough to see mom this way, but the Dr. and the Hospice care, as well as your love will help.
