No : Babies aren't born with diabetes. He may pass on a genetic tendency to develop it, especially type 2 diabetes, but that usually doesn't manifest until adulthood after years of poor eating. Type 1 diabetes does not have a strong hereditary component, thank goodness, but usually develops much earlier. Newborns can be affected, possibly severely, from maternal diabetes in pregnancy.
