Depends: Sometimes patients are given emperic therapy based on complaint. Clostridium difficile can cause a GI illness presenting as diarrhea following antibiotic use. It can be easily treated with Flagyl but if not treated may lead to severe illness, protracted hospitalization and even death. If you have concerns speak with your doctor. There is a stool test available.
