Controversial: There was certain controversy a while ago; that said, let s remember that "help for depression" can be easily confused with : substance dependent individual using his drug of choice (would cause some, temporary, intense feeling of gratification or "happiness", right?). Also, marijuana causes a chronic state of lack of motivation / avolition, this feels more like depression than not.

Unsure of question? : Given that there haven't been properly conducted scientific studies to compare efficacy of marijuana for treating depression, it is wiser to stick with treatments that have been proven effective in such studies - including antidepressants and various psychotherapies. Seek out your primary care physician or therapist or psychiatrist for this. Good luck.

Is there a question?: You have written a declarative sentence, so it sounds like you're telling us what you think, rather than asking a question. You're welcome to any opinion you want to maintain, but i agree with my colleagues that marijuana is not an antidepressant. Instead, marijuana seems to be a risk factor for depression (as well as psychosis) in young adults. http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/23592068.
