Just a dumb bone doc: Well, i assume you were put on this for reflux/gerd so not sure why you are trying to get off of it. It's not addictive and in your case is helping your condition. Repeated reflux can lead to barrett's esophagitis which has a high risk of turning to carcinoma(cancer) and esophageal cancer is deadly. If changing your diet is not working you probably need to stay on the meds.
