Had a baby 3 months ago and i just had a sonogram done b/c im still bleeding and they found fluid in endometrial cavity what is a d&c procedure?

Surgery: D&c stands for dilation and currettage. You are anesthesized and the doctor dilates or opens the cervix, then with a special instrument called a curette the doctor uses it to scrape off the lining of the uterus. This is done very lightly in order not to damage the lining. The purpuse is to remove any excess inside like placenta, polpys or blood clots. Hope the info helped. Good luck.
