Possible: When the mother is rh - , and the father is rh + , then the mother needs Rhogam if there is any bleeding in the pregnancy. Additionally, Rhogam is given around 28 weeks routinely. This is done to prevent a potentially rh+ fetus from sensitizing the mother. If sensitization occurs, this can be quite serious requiring management by a maternal fetal specialist.
