Family practice : It would be helpful for prevention. If there was no trauma then another cause would need to be found. It also would affect healing. It wouldn't necessarily change the treatment unless there was ligament damage. Immobilization is treatment for the fracture.

No: Broken is broken. There are more options with fibula fracture management (unless involves the ankle joint / stability) than with other axial bones (ones that make you stand up).
