Why do the tips of my nails fall off? i do not bit nor chew them but if they grow longer than my nail bed they fall/peel off. or a layer will come off

Nail splitting: Nail splitting (brittle nail syndrome, onychoschizia) has many possible causes. It may be due to frequent wetting and drying of the hands, use of nail cosmetics and filing (hardeners, polish, polish removers/solvents), nail procedures, occupational exposure to chemicals, injury, other medical problems, medical problems, malnutrition certain skin diseases and medications.
