ESR, lipids and HIV: Patients with HIV may have elevations of esr, but ESR is just a marker of inflammation. Many different types of inflammation can elevate the esr. Hiv itself does not elevate cholesterol or triglycerides, but protease inhibitors, medications used to treat HIV can elevate them. Please see your doctor for a complete examination. If there is a risk of HIV exposure, please get tested.
