Yes in most cases: Chickenpox is one of the most contagious illnesses, being spread for at least a day prior to it's outbreak by airborne secretions & up to a week after the outbreak from airborne or skin debris. Simple exposure within the same room with the patient for an hour is enough to pass the germ. Those who have had it before & most who were vaccinated are immune.
