Patience: Typically they will go away in 10 - 14 days. Warm salt water rinses sometimes help. If it is a herpes ulceration, you can get a rxn. For acyclovir. This helps when taken as soon as it starts. If it is aphthous ulceration, no medication for it. Hang in there.

The condition is idiopathic (the cause is not known) and recurrent aphthous ulcers are usually self-limiting. Your dentist may prescribe an antimicrobial mouth rinse corticosteroid ointment to control the pain and irritation.
